AEROPORTI DI PUGLIA S.p.A is the Company that manages the four Apulian Airports of Bari, Brindisi, Foggia and Grottaglie under Italian Civil Aviation Authority concession (Enac). Shortly, Aeroporti di Puglia activity has as its main purpose the development in design and management of the infrastructures for the excercise of airport activities and for the assignment and coordination of related commercial activities. 

In particular, the corporate purpose includes activities connected to aviation services such as: 

  • Development and management of Airport Infrastructure; 
  • Passenger, ramp and cargo assistance 
  • ground assistance services (handling) for carriers operating at airports. 
  • security services for check-in passengers and baggage on departure and in transit; 

and non-aviation activities such as, essentially: 

  • sub-concessions of spaces to third parties (car rental, catering, refueling of aircraft, etc.); 
  • management of advertising areas; 
  • management of the parking service for departing passengers. 

The development of airport infrastructure and services operated by Aeroporti di Puglia is aimed to increase connectivity, deseasonalize traffic and promote sustainable aviation, with a strong focus on innovation, efficiency, environmental protection and strategic integration at a European level in relation with international projects for “green” air mobility. 

The Aeroporti di Puglia S.p.A. company has an effective Environmental Management System in place, certified according to the requirements of the international standard UNI EN ISO 14001, for the following certification purpose: 

“PROVISION OF GROUND ASSISTANCE SERVICES TO AIRCRAFT AND PASSEGERS, MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENACE OF INFRASTRUCTURES, AIRPORT SECURITY AND EMERCENCY MANAGEMENT”. 

For every four regulatory years, with the periodic signing of the Planning Agreement between Enac and Aeroporti di Puglia pursuant art. 1 paragraph 11 of the Legislative Decree 12 september 2014 n.133, the Company guarantees the continuity of investments intended for the development of airport infrastructures and the commitment to innovation and sustainability that have always been the main principles of the company strategy. 

The ongoing investments carry out a further strengthening of the services offered to passengers and the improvement of the efficiency of services to carriers and strengthen the competitiveness of the Apulian airports, with a careful eye on the new challenges of suborbital transport in which the Grottaglie Spaceport is destined to play a fundamnetal role. 

Aeroporti di Puglia is a leading operator on the Italian scene, ready to face the mobility of the future and to contribute in a concrete way to the economic and social development of the territory, with the utmost respect for environmental protection and according to concrete principles of sustainability. 

As part of the Program Contract, the Environmental Protection Plan is drawn up, in accordance with the criteria and guidelines established by ENAC and according to the indications of Directive 2009/12/CE of the European Parliament and of the Council, which establishes the commitments undertaken in the environmental field and identifies the environmental protection indicators with which the Company monitors, during each year, the achievement of the objectives. 

In carrying out its acitivities, aimed to offer safe, efficient and commensurated to user’s expetations, AdP is committed to environment protection through compliance with law obligations and the adoption of the principles of sustainable development. 

AdP’s commitment is also addressed towards the continuous improvement of its Environmental Management System and the optimization of performance, consistently with its development plans and according to the following fundamental principles: 

  • to implement the environmental laws and regulations applicable to the relevant airport context, where possible anticipating new developments. 
  • to prevent and limit the environmental impact of air traffic and the activities of the Apulian airport network, evaluating the best technologies available on the market and balancing energy consumption through the use of renewable sources; 
  • to reduce CO2 emissions produced either directly or indirectly, also through the involvement of third parties operating inside the airport, thanks to participation in the global Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program, developed in Europe by the Airports Council International (ACI), in line with the objectives established by the relevant international bodies and agreements; 
  • to contain and optimize the use of natural resources, as well as evaluate, minimize and control the release of polluting substances into the air, water and soil. 
  • to minimize the production of waste, including dangerous garbage, ensuring correct disposal and promoting separate collection and recovery; 
  • to minimize the acoustic impact of airport activities, adopting a balanced approach to managing the noise produced by aircraft and identifying the most suitable measures to promote compatibility between aeronautical activities and the airport surroundings; 
  • to integrate factors aimed at environmental protection at all levels of the Organization, through: 
  • internal and external communication related to its commitment to environmental protection and its environmental goals; 
  • the involvement and training of its Employees and Collaborators in order to Know the argument and consequently to play an active role in controlling the environmental impact of their activities; 
  • raising awareness of the reduction of environmental impact towards the Airport Authorities and Operators who carry out their activities in the airport sector; 
  • the choice of suppliers and subcontractors who share AdP’s ethical values ​​and environmental principles. 

This document defines the main bases and principles established by AdP General Management, under commission of Board of Directors and the President to which all the actors involved must refer when implementing environmental commitments and improving performance, in accordance with the development plans of the Airports. 

At the same time, Aeroporti di Puglia undertakes to make available all the measures and resources necessary to pursue the above listed commitments and achieve the established goals. 

The Environmental Policy is spread to Staff and Stakeholders in order to promote awareness of environmental issues. The Management therefore asks all staff and all airport operators for the utmost attention and collaboration so that what has been built and planned in the environmental field can be maintained and improved with continuity, effectiveness and pride.
